Manel Morera, Shipbuilder and Captain

He was born in Barcelona, October 31, 1954. He’s the father of three sons and a daughter. At a really early age he started in the light sailing world, discovering a new passion in his life. He participated in countless boat races, both light sail and cruise. He carried out many crossings between the Catalan Coast and the Balearic Islands and numerous coastal navigations in the Catalan and Valencian coastline.

His longest crossing was from Turkey to Barcelona using the Mediterranean during ten days. Manel Morera, thanks to his prolonged experience in the sea, he’s perfectly qualified to avoid and solve the critic moments that sometimes the sea puts in our way. He’s a really sociable person, besides a great cook, he delights us with his optimism.

Titles and Courses done:

• Basic Training. Awarded by the “Direcció General de Pesca i Afers Marítims de la Generalitat de Catalunya” and the General Direction of the Marine Merchant. Professional title that covers the following areas:
  • Survival in the sea in case of abandonment of the ship
  • Security on the job and social responsibilities.
  • Initial Specific Sanitary Training. First-Aids.
  • Prevention and fire-fighting.
• Advanced in Fire-Fighting Awarded by the Direction of the Marine Merchant and achieved in the Safety Training Centre of “Can Padró”.
• Dock Skipper. Professional title awarded by the General Direction of the Marine Merchant.
• Motor and sail Yacht captain. Awarded by the “Departament d’Agricultura, Ramadería i Pesca de la Generalitat de Catalunya”. Recreational title that grants him the right to sail, without limitations, in international waters and steer ships with no size limits.
